"When you empower women, you grow a community."

The mission of UPAVIM is to empower the women of our community, giving them an opportunity to improve the quality of life, for themselves and for their families. We pursue this mission by giving them access to education, employment opportunities, daycare services for their children, health care services, and programs for personal and professional development.

UPAVIM is a refuge for the women and children of La Esperanza. It provides a safe place for the women and children to spend their days, off the streets and away from the violence. There are many ways you can help the women and children of UPAVIM.

  1. Make a Donation:

Although UPAVIM supports its school and daycare 100% through the sale of its crafts, our other programs rely on generous donations from people who believe in what we are doing and want to help. We gratefully accept donations and are extremely appreciative of any contributions to our programs. UPAVIM has received support from numerous churches, individuals, stores, non-profit organizations, and foundations since the cooperative began in 1988. All donations are tax-deductible in the U.S.A.

  2. Host a Sale in your Community

Please consider hosting a consignment sale at your home, church, school, work or organization. As a volunteer consignee, you can choose to receive 15% of your total sales for your organization or you can choose to return all sale proceeds to create an even greater impact for our women artisans of UPAVIM!

Learn more about hosting a sale here or email [email protected].

  3. Volunteer

Join the women of UPAVIM in creating a better life for themselves and their families. We have enjoyed volunteers from many countries for the past 20 years including the United States, Canada, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Hong Kong, Holland, and Scotland. All volunteers are offered free housing and lunch during the week. UPAVIM does not charge a fee to volunteer with us but UPAVIM does ask for a minimum commitment of at least four months for volunteers, with an ideal commitment of one year.

To learn more about what it takes like to volunteer at UPAVIM check out the Program Basics. If you have any questions about volunteering or have interest in volunteering in another program area please contact us at [email protected]
