| This ingenious handmade fair trade clay birdhouse/nesting pot was made according to specs of one commonly used by early American colonists. When put above a window the birds would eat mosquitoes creating a natural screen from bugs. Our pot is for modern day use and can be hung anywhere in the yard or on a porch. I have one on our covered patio and the wrens love it. Every year we have a few new broods of chicks and I can watch them feed their babies. A stick needs to be added for a perch - holes are provided for the stick to go through. It measures 8" long and is approximately 5" wide in the nesting end. I had a lip put in for the chicks not to fall out when the mother comes to feed them. There is a small hole in the back for hanging. |
